Who is Yabel Serkelrod, The Knight of The Ancient Covenant?

Throughout the Stellarspace of the EverWar Universe, the Serkelrod Lineage was renown. From the earliest Serkelrod to the latest, their fighting skills proved them a pivotal opponent in the trials of combat. The Serkelrod Family partook in nearly every conflict through the the Stellarspace. From the Cavalier Civil War and onward. However, during the latter portion of the War of Helio, there was one Serkelrod member who paved a path forward for his family’s legacy and the legacy of the Covenant Knights. His name was Yabel Serkelrod.

Born in the year 744 BoC (Battle of Caelum), Yabel was raised by his father and mother, Lysander and Kassandra on the planet of Helio. Like his father, Yabel was trained and educated in the ways of the Covenant Knights, a nation of warrior knights who serve The High One and guard His ways. Nearing the adult age, Yabel was joined into the Knights of the Covenant as the forces of the Ordowians and Sinstorians invaded their home-world. Standing side-by-side with his close ally, Rayen Grake, a descendant from the Grake Lineage, they defeated the sorcerers of Ordow with ease and the polytheistic Sinstorians, forcing them to retreat to their planets. Some years later, after Rayen’s sudden fall from grace due to a mistake not of his own making, but a trial in disguise, Yabel went into battles on his own, growing his skills and proving his strength.

The time came in the year of 695 BoC, when a sudden stranger of a knight crash-landed upon the Helio soil, making his way to the city of Tropolton for assistance. This event began Yabel’s journey into self-discovery as he was commanded by Elder Knight Iscah to travel to the stranger’s planet of Kuward and to destroy the legendary Fountain of Healing. Yabel made it to Kuward and came into conflict with Fountain’s protector, The Thunder Knight. Yabel battled the Knight and defeated him. Fleeing from the Fountain, Yabel chased down the wounded Thunder Knight to a castle, leaving Yabel wandering until he’s met by Ashona, the Woman of the Castle and her handmaiden Ila. While speaking with them, the Thunder Knight returns to duel Yabel, only to his defeat by decapitation. Yabel had learned the tale of the Thunder Knight, in which whomever killed him would have to take up his identity and protect the Fountain and the Woman of the Castle. Yabel, being attracted to Ashona’s beauty decided to take up the mantle and stay with her. Such a decision caused a disturbance as the Knights came to Kuward in search of Yabel, only to find him as the Thunder Knight and to face him in battle. Yabel’s mind was clouded due to the Thunder Knight’s armor as he defeated his brethren, only to be awoken by Rayen Grake.

Thanks to his brethren, Yabel returned home. Only to leave Helio once again to retrieve Ashona and Ila, who were taken captive by the Viper Order. Yabel struggled within his being. His spirit being torn in two, a generational curse within the Serkelrod lineage. Against Elder Iscah’s warnings, Yabel went out into the Stellarspace to find them. His journey took him to the jungle desert planet of Darella, where he battled the colossal giants. The trail moved further out, toward the planet Ivil, a planet where days and nights are only circulated by three days each. Dwelling in the dark of the planet, Yabel received information of Ashona and Ila’s whereabouts. they were held captive on the planet of Skotos, inside the castle belonging to The Dark Lord of The Shaman. Having to defeat him in combat for the women, Yabel fought hard and with his submission to the Avior, he defeated The Dark Lord. Taking Ashona and Ila with him back to Helio, they arrived to the planet being attacked by the Viper Order. Yabel ran into the heat of the battle and fought. The Viper Order’s legion was defeated and the planet was saved once more. Sometime after, Yabel married Ashona and their son, Sephor was born.

Five years later, after a battle with the Sinstorians, Yabel was sent back to Kuward to uncover the legend of the Lost Grail. Once he arrived, he is greeted by Galahad, a member of the Knights Regiar, an elite unit of Kuwardian knights. Aligning with Galahad against the forces of the Viper Order and the Magus Court, Yabel and Galahad protected the Grail, only to be shown a vision of the distant future.

Yabel lived for many years after these events and had more journeys along the way. His descendants continue on the Serkelrod lineage, one being Aweran Serkelrod, a Knight of the Advanced Covenant and Yabel’s great-great-great-great grandson.
